General Russell's ill tempered rant is extremely valuable because it is an authentic glimpse of the kind of private vituperation that goes on beneath the surface but gets covered over with politeness in public. This book was like a short newspaper article. All the great kids’ series (Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Narnia, etc.) have a story arc that continues throughout the series, but each book has a separate story arc that ends within the book. Indeed, this book is hardly a helper in implementing jpeg2000, but more a reference book for highly skilled image processing professionals/researchers. I do not hesitate to leave scathing reviews of abysmal products, as you can see from my review history, but by the same token I also give outstanding reviews to outstanding products. Other books will tell you to let them cry it out - that's not my kind of parenting.
