The real value of Scheck's study is to have shown not only Origen's ability to engage the Pauline text on its own terms, but to have liberated Origen from the `question-begging' that has haunted so much of the historical treatment of his Commentary on Romans and that reached a fevered pitch after the Protestant Reformation. It ends with a cliffhanger that does not give the reader any kind of satisfaction. Also, too are his theories about how the displacement of one language by another in a region can often lead to weird anomalies in number counting.. We returned our second copy today as the pages are coming unglued as you turn them. And, the files won't work with other editions of Vue. But this is the status quo for books targeting younger kids, so I can't penalize the rating that much.
